I.  SHOWS

A. “Off to the Races!” in-house Show September 13, 2011
This is a fun, low-key way for our club to practice entering shows and to learn.

B.  “Namaste” Little Garden Club of Rye Flower Show on September 22 + 23, 2011 at
the Wainwright House, 260 Stuyvesant Avenue, Rye, New York
–Entries passed: Wednesday, 9/21 5-6 pm. and Thursday, 9/22 7:30 – 9:30 am.
–Classes 1-21, 28 and 29 require no registration– please enter!
–Class 23: “Om” Katsama Tree: we need the names of people who took seeds;
unlimited entries, so please enter!

C.  “Coloratura” Fairfield Garden Club Flower Show on September 29 – October 1, 2011
at the Wien Experimental Theater, Fairfield University, Fairfield, Ct.
–Entries passed Wednesday, 9/28 2-4 pm. and Thursday, 9/29 7:30 – 10:00 am.
–Classes 4-15: “Polychromatic” unlimited entries, so please enter!
–Classes 18 (Novice) and 19 (Non-novice) “Florescent” Solanum ‘Sangria’
(Ornamental Pepper) given May 2011 to: Dunn, Schiefflin, Pavelic, Nichols,   Yonce, N. King, Marache, Hurst, Cox, Marks, Searle, Scott, Gregory, Getz,
Ballentine, Sleeper, Taylor, Heidt, Lovejoy, Cutting and Baccile. Unlimited   entries, so let’s enter as many as we can and bump up our odds to do well!
–Class 20 “Spectrum” unlimited, so please enter!

D.  “Neath the Elms” Zone II Flower Show and Meeting on October 26 + 27, 2011 at
The Lawn Club, 193 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, Ct.

E.  “Nature of the Game” Green Fingers “Preview of Spring” Flower Show on March 1 +
2, 2012 at Christ Church, 254 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich.  Wednesday, 2/29 1:30 – 4:30 Horticulture entries accepted and passed.
–Tuesday, November 29 = Horticulture 3 month ownership date
–Friday, January 27, 2012 = Horticulture registration deadline
–Classes 1-7, 9-14, 30, 33-38 unlimited so please enter!
–Class 33 (Novice) and 34 (Non-novice) “Paint Ball” Challenge Class: Hypoestes   phyllostachya ‘Splash Select Pink’ (Polka Dot Plant) given last year to: Potter,
Searle, Lawrence, N. King, Dunn, Nichols, Marache, Schiefflin, Serelle, Cutting
Lewis, L. King.  Unlimited, so let’s all enter!  (And, it’s not too late to start your   seeds now, just make sure they are planted in a moveable container.)

II.  WORKSHOPS

A. October 5, 10:00 am. Garden Education Center, propagating cuttings and grafting (?) with Lisa Bebe.

B. October 20, 9:30 am., Sam Bridge Nursery, Bulb workshop with Mary Jo Bridge.
–This will be very helpful for the Green Finger’s “Preview of Spring” show in   March.  Also, we will be planting bulbs for Classes 5 and 6. Pay for what     materials you use directly to Sam Bridge.

C. January 31, 2012, Prepping for “Preview of Spring.”

III. OTHER

A. Daffodil Bulbs: we will be handing them out at our October or November meeting.  The people who have signed up for bulbs are: Gregory, Lawrence, Marks, Pavelic,
Sleeper, Steinberg, Lovejoy, Schiefflin, Simon, Serrel, Stauffer, Potter, Lawson-
Johnston, N. King, Wells, L. King, Dunn, Marache and Nichols.
– If anyone would like to be added or removed from this list, please let Chris
Nichols know as soon as possible.  The cost of the bulbs will be $50 payable to Chris when they are handed out.

B.   Other 2012 shows, like the Daffodil Show, Sasqua Show and Dahlia Show at the Garden Education Center, will be discussed and their information will be added to our website at a later date.

D. We will prepare another hand-out with upcoming shows and workshop information in January 2012, but our GGC website is always a great resource.
