Public Relations

The purpose of the Public Relations committee is to stimulate public interest in club activities including floral design, horticulture, photography, conservation, civic improvements and gardens by arranging for publication of the Club’s activities in these areas.

Committee Chair 2016-17: Amory Armstrong Kenny

Through digital media GGC gained exposure this year with increased publicity in:

The Greenwich Times
Greenwich-Post
The Sentinel
Greenwich Free Press
The Patch
Greenwich Magazine
GCA Bulletin – 2016 summer issue

These news sources like colorful photographs of club members actively working within the community (Armstrong Court, Adult Day Care, Babcock Planting, the GDS show, Pollinator Potluck Series, etc.) This is an easy and effective way to publicize our civic contributions. News organizations and their subscribers appreciate old-fashioned good news/good works and we should try and submit photos and articles after each activity. Lisa Hurst has done an excellent job posting photos on Smug Mug and I have added some as well.

My suggestion going forward is that prior to each activity/event perhaps on the sign up genius page, we ask a member to be the designated photographer. After the event they should share the best shots with the PR chair for submission to digital media and Smug Mug.
